We built SleekCMS because headless and no-code shouldn't be opposites.
Developers deserve clean APIs and structured content. Content teams deserve publishing independence. Both groups deserve to work from the same platform.
The problem we set out to solve
Traditional CMSs couple content to presentation — change the frontend, potentially break the content. Headless CMSs solve that problem but hand you a new one: now you're responsible for your own frontend, build pipeline, CDN, and deployment.
For most teams, that's the right trade-off. For many, it isn't.
The missing option was a headless CMS that included a fully automated publishing layer — where you could model structured content, expose it through clean APIs, and generate a production-grade static site without any external tooling. Not as a compromise between the two approaches, but as both at once.
How it started
SleekCMS grew out of repeated frustration with the same gap: teams choosing between the flexibility of a headless CMS and the practicality of managed publishing.
Building a bespoke frontend stack for every project meant recurring infrastructure overhead. Shipping content changes required developer involvement. Clients couldn't publish independently.
The integrated static site builder started as an internal solution to that problem. SleekCMS became the platform built around it — designed from the start to serve both developers and content teams from the same content models.
What we believe
Structure first
Good content modeling makes everything downstream easier. When fields are typed and references are explicit, the API is predictable, the editor is clear, and the frontend is reliable.
Both/and, not either/or
Developers and content editors have different needs. The platform should meet both — not force one group to compromise for the other.
Zero unnecessary complexity
If the platform can handle image optimization, CDN delivery, or environment promotion — it should. That's not what your team should be spending time on.
Openness
Every SleekCMS site is a template; knowledge should be transferable. Plain files, standard formats, no lock-in.
